A Leg Up For A Pillar of Our Community

On Monday, August 10, 2026, lifelong Arabian horsewoman Lorie Henderson was severely injured in the kind of freak accident that can befall any of us at any time. Lorie came off a horse while schooling at Region 14 and hit a fence, which resulted in a broken neck and paralysis. At this time she is fighting to regain her mobility, but still cannot use her hands or legs and is fighting hard to come back, still in rehab. Doctors do not know what her long term prognosis is or will be.

Lories' business program represents the very core of Arabian horse introduction. Firelight Arabians is dedicated to bringing in new people and facilitating their journey into the Arabian horse and show world. Lorie's program owns most of the horses at the farm, which are then used in the lesson program and offered to new families to lease for various shows. These families pay show costs, lessons, and farrier work for the horse, but usually are not yet at the point of assuming the ongoing financial responsibility of horse ownership.

During this period of time, while Lorie is working to regain her strength and mobility, family and friends are working hard to continue supporting Lorie's equine partners while they wait for their leader's return. These School Masters are horses responsible for capturing so many new people's love of the Arabian horse while introducing them to their first shows, regionals, and nationals, and creating many new Arabian horse owners, and we all owe them as well as Lorie and her family the priviledge of seeing this battle for her return through.
