On Sunday, January 21, the worst of any horse owner's fears fell upon the Nichols family in Powhatan, VA when one of the barns at their Oakleigh Arabians burst into flames. Three of the family's beloved lesson horses were lost, and a fourth was freed at great risk and is currently battling towards recovery, amazing his caregivers and vets with that signature Arabian horse optimism and refusal to give up easily.
The Nichols family have been part of the Arabian community for over five decades, and have been a staple in their community running a lesson program for future young Arabian horse lovers for many years.
